My Experience as an Orlando Realtor
I've been helping people buy and sell real estate in Central Florida since 1989, but the experiences that prepared me for this career started long before I became a Realtor.
I've been working since I was 12 years old. Growing up in my father's steel company, I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and problem-solving. I learned how to weld, operate heavy equipment, and work alongside hardworking people who taught me the importance of earning trust and getting the job done.
Over the years, I've worked as a veterinary technician assisting with surgeries, gained experience in an orthopedic hospital ward and sports medicine, and spent more than 20 years involved in emergency management and storm recovery. I've worked with people facing injuries, loss, uncertainty, and major life challenges. Those experiences taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think clearly, communicate effectively, and help people make difficult decisions during stressful situations.
Sports also played an important role in my life.(GO GATORS!). Being part of Sec championship football and baseball programs taught me discipline, teamwork, preparation, and the importance of performing when the stakes are high. Working with athletes showed me how quickly life can change and how important it is to have someone you trust when facing major decisions.
Real estate runs deep in my family: my grandfather, grandmother, and mother were all Realtors in Central Florida, and I proudly continue that tradition today.
What I've learned over the years is that real estate is rarely just about property, it's about life. People buy and sell homes because they're getting married, divorced, having children, caring for aging parents, relocating, downsizing, retiring, settling estates, or dealing with probate. Sometimes they're celebrating success. Other times they're facing foreclosure, financial hardship, fire damage, or unexpected life changes.
All the Hats of a Real Estate Agent
As a Realtor, I wear many hats: advisor, negotiator, counselor, problem-solver, construction manager, project manager, deadlines and trusted resource. My role is to help clients make informed decisions, navigate challenges, and achieve their goals while protecting their best interests.
One of the most valuable skills I bring to the table is negotiation. Successful real estate transactions involve much more than price. Location, condition, financing, inspections, insurance, timing, contract terms, market conditions, and the motivations of the parties involved all play a role. Experience helps me identify solutions, overcome obstacles, and keep transactions moving toward a successful closing.
As a licensed Florida Realtor, I work with buyers and sellers throughout the state and have experience with residential homes, luxury properties, waterfront homes, condominiums, vacant land, investment properties, commercial buildings, warehouses, foreclosures, REO properties, short sales, probate properties, and fire-damaged homes.
I'm an old-school Realtor who believes in answering the phone, telling the truth, working hard, and putting clients first. I may not be an expert in every field, but after decades in real estate, construction, emergency management, and problem-solving, I've developed the knowledge, contacts, and experience to help my clients navigate almost any situation.
Real Estate as an Investment
One of the lessons I've learned over the years is that time is one of the most powerful tools in real estate.
Real estate is a long-term investment. Historically, over time, property values tend to increase, mortgages get paid down, and homeowners build equity. That's why I often tell people that time is your friend when it comes to real estate.
For many families, buying a home is one of the most important financial decisions they'll ever make. Instead of paying rent and helping a landlord build wealth, homeownership allows you to invest in yourself and your future. Every mortgage payment has the potential to build equity and create long-term financial stability.
My advice to many first-time buyers is simple: if you're financially ready, stop renting as soon as possible and start building your own equity. Buy your first home, learn the process, and begin creating wealth through homeownership.
For those looking to build additional wealth, rental properties can be a powerful tool. A well-chosen investment property can generate income, provide tax advantages, and create long-term financial opportunities for you and your family.
What’s Next
While every situation is different, I believe real estate remains one of the best ways for ordinary people to build wealth over time. Whether you're buying your first home, moving up to your dream home, downsizing, purchasing investment property, or planning for retirement, my goal is to help you make informed decisions that benefit you and your family for years to come.
Real estate is really about building a future that thrives with you.
